shewasababy asked: That was so helpful!!! I have taken art classes at my high school for the past 4 years and taken some in desgin and photo classes at FIT. I don't have to many figure drawings. I have still lifes though. Do you know of anyone that got the scholarship?? I'm really dying to get it! Also, does the school help you with tuition much?? Thanks so much for all your help!! I really appreciate it! My name is Madison by the way!
Hi Madison! I’m sorry I don’t know anyone who has gotten the scholarship :( My brother got one! But he is studying at RISD. I think it is harder for international students to get the scholarship - they want students from the US at their schools. There have been posters up about scholarships you can apply to for certain majors, and I think SVA does try to help you out with tuition and loans but it is competitive. You really have to show them that you deserve money. But don’t despair! So far it really is worth it. I have really dedicated teachers. It is hard and tiresome and expensive and everything is grey, not black and white in art school but I’ve learned alot. You should contact admissions about loans and remember you can always go to a less expensive but equally good school like FIT and then transfer to SVA. I’ve met some FIT students, they are very nice people and they like it there. I heard one girl say that she met Thomas Woodruff and explained her situation to him and he helped her with SVA dorming options. The good thing about scholarship application is that if your GPA is 3.5 + (I think it’s 3.5) then when you apply and send your things in you are automatically considered. No extra forms to fill out. You should check that out. GOOD LUCK!
